MAKING A DIFFERENCE
The Murrieta Y Turns 1
On July 30, 2016 The Murrieta Family YMCA will be celebrating their one year anniversary. In the last 12 months, the Murrieta Y has grown to be an important part of the Murrieta community offering many unique health and fitness programs for the whole family. Currently, we are running the Ironman Challenge; 98 members are participating as competitors during the month of July. Over the month-long period, all of the participants are working towards completing a combined 5 miles of rowing, 26.2 miles running, and 112 miles biking.
Our youth are participating in several sports and fitness programs including Creative Dance, Zumba®, Tee-ball, Basketball, Soccer, and Youth Fitness Camp. We are also offering summer camp in our KidZone, where youth ages 6-12 enjoy field trips, activities, games and more.
Another unique program to the Murrieta Y is our partnership with the Camp Pendleton YMCA, where twice a week, we offer a Mommy and Me Preschool open to all Military families, Y members, and the community. The program emphasizes Kindergarten readiness, socialization and positive parent/child interactions. It also offers low-cost field trips, holiday parties, and additional activities, such as Kids in the Kitchen, and Daddy and Me.
Community members can join the Murrieta YMCA staff this Saturday July 30th from 9am – 12pm for food, birthday cake, kids activities, giveaways, fitness demos and assessments and information on Fall programming. Lake Elsinore Storm mascot, Thunder, will be making his way to the fitness facility at 9:30a to join in the fun and take pictures with kids. In addition, any new member can join the Y during the anniversary week and will not have to pay an enrollment fee. For more information and a complete schedule of fitness class demos click here.
